Why we exist
Donald Trump and the movement behind him have spent a decade telling the country that the record does not matter: that what was said yesterday can be denied today, that a vote cast in the dark stays there, that a court filing or a disclosure form is paperwork nobody reads.
We read it. Americans for Accountability exists to defeat Donald Trump and his movement in 2028, and to defeat MAGA and Trumpist candidates in elections for federal office across the country, by putting their own record in front of the voters they answer to.
What we do
We find the public record, we read it in full, and we publish what it shows beside the record itself. Then we pay to put that work where voters will see it.
That means investigations built from primary documents, short analyses of a single vote or statement, and video that carries its source list under the player. Every factual claim we publish links to the record it rests on, and what we conclude from a record is labeled as our conclusion, not folded into the facts.
When we choose to, we also pay for communications that expressly call for the defeat or election of a candidate for federal office. Federal law calls that an independent expenditure, and it is reported to the Federal Election Commission.
Where we work
The House of Representatives, the Senate, and the presidency. A project may concentrate on one state or one district; the organization does not. We do not work in state or local elections.
Independence
We do not coordinate with any candidate, campaign, or political party, and we take no direction from them. Federal law requires that independence. Our credibility depends on it, because a record checked by people who answer to a campaign is not a check at all.
What we are not
We are not neutral. We have a political objective and we state it. What we offer instead of neutrality is something a reader can test: the record is linked, the method is published, the money is disclosed, and errors are corrected on the page where they were made.
How we are organized
Americans for Accountability is an independent expenditure-only political committee, commonly called a super PAC, registered with the Federal Election Commission under committee ID C00964049 on October 22, 2026. A committee of this kind may accept contributions of any amount from individuals and from U.S. corporations, unions, and other U.S. entities. It may not contribute to candidates or coordinate with them. It reports its contributors and its spending to the FEC, and those reports are public.
Governance and compensation standards have been drafted for the committee and are published on the Transparency page, labeled as proposed until the committee’s leadership formally adopts them. Outside advisors, officer compensation, and the first financial report will be published there as each exists.
